The Living Cross

Speed is of essence and
those in a rush are often in
a hurry

to do the simplest of chores
amid the scrape of Sunday
morning
notwithstanding the blizzard
of weather outside my frosted window

prepare for dayâs journey
with shower---shave
dressed with the glitz of adornment

a shirt your wife bought
the socks from a Christmas party
tie for a birthday
oh oh forgot to brush teeth
eat first

now Bible under arm
off to church
Jesus is watching
He is the sum of our daily smiles.
